Report:

Jordyn

  • Reached out to companies in the LMU area for assistance with materials and resources for the project. Part of the Point to Point driving group. Researched information on Point to Point programming and technology.

Jacob

  • Started working on the project proposal with the revised group structure. We decided to grow the group to four members so that we could better incorporate larger ideas. We will work in teams of two towards two goals: Point-to-Point driving and Parking Assistance. DJ and I will be leading the Parking Assistance part of the project. We will work as a team to incorporate the different systems to initiate this project and work out the basis of how the kart will move itself. The karts that we have chosen are all primarily electrical systems which will aid in this process but some of the systems are mechanical so these systems will have to change or be revised.

DJ

  • Worked on the project proposal and Gantt chart, and submitted drafts of each. The group was expanded to four members. Jacob and I will be leading the smart kart's Parking Assistance feature. Currently waiting to receive feedback from experts on mechanical systems. This will determine if the group proceeds with the electric smart kart project.

Quinn

  • Continuing to reach out to Dr. Siniawski of the Mechanical Engineering department to check if a variable reversible motor will be viable to auto steer the smart kart. Co-leading the Point-to-Point group with Jordyn.

Plans for Next Week:

  • Once hearing back from the Mechanical Engineering department the decision of whether to buy Segway's kart and make modifications or to continue looking for another kart with less modifications will be made.

  • Also planning to hear back from the local businesses about assistance they may be willing to provide.

Group Meeting Memo:

  • Two groups of two joined to become a group of four. Both groups will work together to ensure the kart fully functional and that both groups know the functionalities of the entire kart.

  • Group 1 will focus on Point to Point technology. (Jordyn and Quinn)

  • Group 2 will focus on self parking capabilities. (DJ and Jacob)
